ViennaSQL is written by Mike Wilson.

The ViennaSQL web site is hosted by SourceForge who provide an excellent service to the Open Source community.

MinML a minimal XML parser for Java. ViennaSQL uses this to parse the configuation file.

java.sun.com for most of your Java needs.

Java Developer Connection has lots of resources for Java developers including the Java Look and Feel Graphics Repository.

Download JDBC drivers for Oracle at technet.oracle.com. Free registration required. The driver you want is the 100% Java one which is probably in a file called something like classes12_01.zip.

Javalobby for lots of Java related stuff.

Jikes is an excellent and very fast Java compiler.

Ant is a modern alternative to "make". The build desription file is written in XML.

DbVisualiser is an alternative database tool. It offers very thorough database information. I think ViennaSQL is a better SQL query tool, but DbVisualiser offers excellent schema information.

Linux Mandrake is my favourite Linix distribution.

Hints for Mac users

I'm told Mac OS9 is on JDK 1.1.8 which will not work with ViennaSQL.

Mac users can (and do) run Linux on Macs www.linuxppc.com, www.yellowdoglinux.comor www.suse.com. This would be rather a drastic approach to take if you just wanted to use ViennaSQL :-)

Or you could upgrade to Max OS X which I hear comes with Java 2. Check out www.apple.com/macosx.

If anyone runs ViennaSQL on OS X, please let me know how you get on.
